Easy Chicken Shawarma Plate

A fool-proof sheet pan chicken shawarma plate recipe that is packed with protein and veggies. It's meal prep and freeze friendly too!

Ingredients

For The Chicken

  • ¼ cup plain greek yogurt I used full fat whole milk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic finely chopped or pressed with a garlic press
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1.5 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chicken broth
  • 1 lb chicken thighs boneless, skinless

For The Tzatziki Sauce

  • ¼ cup cucumber finely chopped
  • ½ cup plain greek yogurt I used full fat whole milk
  • 4 cloves garlic finely chopped or pressed with a garlic press
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp dried dill 4 tsp if using fresh
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • For The Chicken:In a medium to large bowl combine greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and spices. Then add in the broth to thin it a bit.
  • Place chicken thighs into the sauce, cover and allow to marinade for 2 hours minimum.
  • When you’re ready to cook the chicken, line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place chicken thighs on it and bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes at 425 degrees F.
  • For The Tzatziki Sauce:While the chicken is cooking you can assemble the tzaziki sauce by simply combining all ingredients into a bowl and mixing together until well combined.
  • When chicken is finished cooking (it should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F) slice it into strips.
  • Now, assemble your chicken shawarma plate by first using the recommended serving suggestions below. You can customize this to whatever you like best and what you have on hand!
  • Then add the chicken to your plate and top with tzatziki sauce.

Notes

  • Can sub chicken breasts for chicken thighs
  • Can use any type of greek yogurt (I like whole milk but non-fat or low-fat will work too)
  • You can marinate it for less than an hour but it tastes best with at least 2 hours (up to overnight!)
  • Try serving it in a pita or flatbread!
