Easy Tofu Ground Beef

Enjoy flavorful and easy tofu ground beef for all types of recipes such as tacos, stir fry, spaghetti, and even chili! So savory with flavors of garlic, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and more, this vegan recipe made on the stovetop is versatile and so yummy.

Ingredients

  • 1 ~14 ounces package of extra firm tofu
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Wrap tofu in a kitchen towel and place a heavy pan on top to press it. This will remove some of the water. Let this press for ~1 hour. Could also use a tofu press!
  • Using a cheese grater shred the tofu so it resembles ground beef.
  • Heat your oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add your grated tofu to the pan and toss it so that the oil evenly coats the tofu. Sauté this for ~2 minutes.
  • Now add the Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke and the spices. Toss this to evenly coat it and cook for ~5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. 
  • When tofu reaches desired crispness remove from heat, serve warm and enjoy!

Taste your tofu throughout to see if you’d like to adjust any spices. If you want a more beef-y taste you can add more Worcestershire sauce.
