New Year’s is upon us, and that means that a lot of us will be setting New Year’s resolutions that we hope to achieve in 2022, right? Well, the problem is that there is a negative connotation around New Year’s resolutions because many of them, for many of us, fail, and that’s why I am calling them goals rather than resolutions. I am here in this episode to walk you through a goal-setting process on how to look forward to the new year so that you can set goals and intentions around where you want to go!
If you’re in The SociEATy, then you are probably aware of the workbook that we used recently. Members filled it out by setting goals together for 2022, and I will be guiding you through that workbook in this episode and will share some of what the members of The SociEATy said. I encourage you to reflect back on 2021, to focus not on just where you want to go but also on where you come from. Remember, the intuitive eating journey is not necessarily one with a destination; we are always learning and always growing on it!
Reflecting on 2021 and how it went for us is going to help us hone in on what areas we want to focus on in 2022. What do we want to learn? What do we want to accomplish? What do we want to master? Finally, what do we want to practice and improve on? Remember, take baby steps! Going from 0 to 60 in a single step is too overwhelming and, more often than not, not sustainable.
Goals are good, especially since they can help you combat the urge to diet, but they’re best when they’re SMART, meaning that they’re specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound!
