Regaining your period is a very hot topic that gets brought up in The SociEATy quite a bit, and I get a lot of questions about it, so fellow registered dietitian Lindsey Lusson joins me today to share her expertise! Lindsey specializes in disordered eating and infertility and has both personal and professional experience around the topic. She shares her story such as how and why she became a dietitian, how and why she developed an eating disorder, and more.
Lindsey touches upon whether or not going to school to study nutrition and to become a dietitian played a role in her disordered eating, revealing how it made it easier for her to hide her eating disorder. She also discusses the most common reasons why women lose their periods, the differences between HA (hypothalamic amenorrhoea) and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), the long-term effects that HA has on health, what the process between her and her clients tends to look like and how she helps them overcome their fear of gaining weight, what to do after recovering our periods, and so much more!
She also, as is tradition on The SociEATy Podcast, closes with a few actionable tips for us, such as to change up our exercise routines and to eat carbs! I hope that this episode has been helpful for everyone listening. Be sure to reach out to Lindsey on Instagram and to rate, review, and subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen if you haven’t already. I would also really appreciate it if you would share the episode with a few people who might enjoy my chat with Lindsey! See you next time!
