Intro
Do you find yourself frequently overeating and maybe even binge eating? Well, as I promised you, The SociEATy Podcast will be bringing on real women like you to talk about their relationships with food and body image, and SociEATy member Catie Gregg joins us today to talk about just that – her own history with binge eating and how she has overcome it. What is the first step to overcoming binge eating? Ditch the diet! Think about it, what usually happens when you tell a child that they are not allowed to do something? The first thing that they are probably going to want to do is exactly what you told them that they weren’t allowed to do, and we, even as adults, are really no different!
As Catie explains, progress didn’t begin to happen for her until after she decided to ditch Weight Watchers and stopped giving in to restrictive diet culture. Normalizing food that we enjoy makes it less tempting and exciting, which means that we aren’t as likely to eat so much of it. In fact, we might even realize that we are getting sick of it!
Catie talks about her ups and downs during her journey toward intuitive eating and offers three steps to those of you who might be looking to curb your binge eating behavior, including identifying what you truly want and what makes you happy, which may or may not actually be food. (If it is, that’s okay! Own your food choices, but you may find that food is substituting something else.)
Catie also reminds us that success does not happen overnight because intuitive eating is not a before and after program like Weight Watchers is. It is a journey, and more importantly, it is your life! Be sure to hit us up on Instagram to share your own stories and/or ideas!
